PLEASED TO MEET YOU!
MS, RD, CSSD, LDN
My name is Basia Drilling, a sports performance dietitian based in Minneapolis, Minnesota and founder of AthlEAT for Life.
I have always had a knack for all things food and nutrition. So much so, I decided to study it during my undergrad years at University of Minnesota, receiving a Bachelor’s of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics. During my time there, I jumped on the opportunity to work as an intern with the Gopher Football team and fell in love with sports nutrition. I went on to complete my dietetic internship at The Ohio State University and later my Master’s Degree in Exercise Science at Auburn University. While at Auburn, I worked as a sports dietitian for the golf, softball, equestrian, and football teams. Most recently, I provided hands-on nutritional support for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during the 2019 NFL season.
My passion is to help athletes reach their unique performance goals. I believe that proper nutrition is vital to achieving optimal performance — both on and off the field. To elevate your game and learn how I can help fuel your success, contact me at the link above!

WHAT IS A REGISTERED DIETITIAN (RD)?
A Registered Dietitian (RD) is an expert in nutrition that has met various academic and professional criteria to earn the RD credential. To become an RD, one must hold a Bachelor’s degree in an accredited dietetics program, complete 1200 hours of supervised practice, and pass a national credentialing exam. Continuing professional education must be completed to maintain registration.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A REGISTERED DIETITIAN (RD) AND A NUTRITIONIST?
In short, anyone who knows something about nutrition can call themselves a nutritionist. Many nutritionists complete advanced training in nutrition, however only Registered Dietitians have gone through extensive supervised training and medical nutrition therapy education to provide the best well-rounded care. Every Registered Dietitian is a Nutritionist, however not every Nutritionist is a Registered Dietitian.
WHAT IS A CERTIFIED SPECIALIST IN SPORTS DIETETICS (CSSD)?
The CSSD credential is considered the premier professional sports nutrition credential in the United States. To become a Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics, one must be a Registered Dietitian for two years, complete 2,000 hours of sports dietetics experience within the last five years, and pass a sports nutrition-focused credentialing exam.
